“I was born in the year 80 AH, and I performed the ḥajj with my father in the year 96 AH when I was sixteen. After we entered the Sacred Mosque, I saw a great study circle. I asked my father, ‘Whose circle is this?’ He replied, ‘The circle of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Juzʾ al-Zubaydī, a Companion of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.’ I then heard him say: ‘I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: Whoever gains a deep understanding of the religion of Allah, Allah will relieve him of his worries and will provide for him from sources he could never anticipate.’”
