His vocation:
Imam Muslim, may Allah have mercy on him, was a cloth merchant, as reported in Tahdhīb al-Tahdhīb. Al-Dhahabī writes in al-ʿIbar: “He was a businessman, a benefactor of Nishapur, and he possessed property and wealth.”
