—peace and blessings be upon him.’ Al-Bukhārī commented, “That statement settled in my heart, so I set about compiling the Ṣaḥīḥ.”

Third: He said, “We have also transmitted with a sound chain from Muḥammad ibn Sulaymān ibn Fāris who related: I heard al-Bukhārī say, ‘I saw the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—in a dream, and it was as though I were standing before him with a fan in my hand, driving flies away from him. I asked some dream-interpreters about the vision, and they told me, ‘You are warding lies away from him.’ That is what impelled me to bring forth the Jāmiʿ al-Ṣaḥīḥ.’”
