some among them are unaware of this truth and think they are doing good.

Anyone who has associated with these people knows the details of what I have outlined. Indeed, some to whom Allah turned in mercy, and who then repented, have explicitly acknowledged this, declaring that before their repentance they had been following no sound path. We therefore ask Allah to keep us and you safe.

As for the acts of worship they perform in accordance with Islamic teachings, the litanies they chant at their gatherings that deceive the gullible, and whatever outward displays of Islam they may put on before ordinary people—all of this is a spoonful of honey in a cup of deadly poison. So beware of these things, that you may remain safe. As the old saying goes: “Ask someone with experience, not a physician.”
