Preachers at This Stage

The preachers at this stage fell into two categories. In East Africa, Arab traders from the southern Arabian Peninsula found routes into Abyssinia, Sudan and Somalia. They entered these regions for trade, bringing Islam with them alongside their merchandise. Naturally, an ordinary trader who has not studied Islam understands it less well than he understands trading methods and ways of increasing wealth, even though he takes pride in being a Muslim and even in calling others to Islam within the limits of his understanding
