When the harm he causes to people in general and to the Muslims in particular becomes severe, Allah—in His mercy—will send down the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary (peace be upon him). Jesus son of Mary will kill him and thereby relieve the Muslims of his evil. Thus truth will prevail: Jesus (peace be upon him) will implement the Law of Allah, rule according to the Islamic Shariah, the religion of Muhammad ﷺ, and with his descent truth will triumph over falsehood.
Question: Is his trial limited to those who are alive, or is it universal?
Answer: His trial concerns only the living. As for the dead, their connection with worldly life has ended; he appears only in this worldly life.
Question: Does this mean that, despite the power Allah grants him to test the people, he cannot bring anyone back to life?
Answer: No. Nothing has been reported indicating that he will bring anyone out of the graves. What is mentioned is the story of a man who will come out to him from the city. The Dajjāl will ask, “Do you believe in me?” The man will answer, “No—you are the Antichrist.” The Dajjāl will then cut him in two and later say, “Rise!” and he will stand up, and so forth. This involves a living man, one of the living; as for those in their graves, the Dajjāl has no power to extract them.
Question: How do we protect ourselves from his tribulation? What must we do?
Answer: We must seek refuge with Allah from his tribulation, just as the Prophet ﷺ commanded us.
Question: Of course, this is in addition to performing many righteous deeds so that a person may be safe from his tribulation, for only those of weak faith are deceived and led astray by him?
