Question: What if he interrupts his saʿy in order to perform the obligatory prayer?
Answer: If the time for prayer comes while he is in the middle of saʿy, he should pray right there in the masʿā. Once he has finished, he restarts only the circuit during which he prayed; the circuits completed beforehand remain valid and he builds on them.
Question: And if the prayer time coincides with the end of a complete circuit?
Answer: He performs the prayer and then begins the following circuit. He should not leave for the mosque; as long as he is engaged in saʿy and the congregational prayer is established, he prays in the masʿā.
Speaking while performing tawāf
Question: Does talking during tawāf—about worldly matters rather than the prescribed supplications—affect the validity of the tawāf?
Answer: Speaking while circumambulating is permissible, but it is preferable for the pilgrim to devote that time to worship, remembrance, and supplication. Occupying oneself with conversation is contrary to what is best, yet it does not invalidate the tawāf; permissible speech has no impact on its validity, even though avoiding it is preferable.
Maintaining continuity in tawāf
Question: May a person interrupt the tawāf for a short break—such as completing five circuits, resting briefly, and then finishing the remainder—or must he perform all the circuits continuously?
