The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever recites a single letter from the Book of Allah is given one good deed, and each good deed is worth ten like it. I am not saying that Alif-Lām-Mīm counts as one letter; rather Alif is a letter, Lām is a letter, and Mīm is a letter.” Accordingly, limiting oneself to Sura al-Ikhlāṣ cannot stand in place of reading the Qur’an, even though its recitation is rewarded; it is simply not the same as someone who has recited the entire Book.
