—that this land contains camels or that a camel has recently passed by? Camel droppings point to the camel, and footprints point to the one who walked. (6) His saying, “And among His signs are the night and the day, the sun and the moon,” shows that the signs (ayat) are of two kinds: 1. Cosmic signs that can be seen, such as the heavens and the earth, the stars, the sun and moon, the mountains, the trees, and the seas. They are called signs because they testify to their Creator. As the poet says: How astonishing that the Lord should be disobeyed, Or that the denier should dare deny Him! In everything there is a sign from Him Pointing unmistakably that He is One. In every movement and every stillness among people There is a witness belonging to God. So how can anyone deny Allah—glorified and exalted—and claim there is no Lord? Could this entire universe and all these creatures have come into existence without a Creator? And if someone concedes that there must be a creator, then who could that creator be other than Allah—majestic and sublime? Produce your evidence! You will find no creator but Allah.
