Allah the Exalted says: “Today I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and approved Islam for you as religion” (al-Maʾidah 5:3). (5) His words “whoever obeys him” mean: whoever complies with his commands will enter Paradise. Conversely, “whoever disobeys him” means: whoever ignores his prohibitions will enter the Fire. The Qurʾan affirms this repeatedly: “Whoever obeys the Messenger has indeed obeyed Allah” (al-Nisaʾ 4:80); “We sent no messenger except to be obeyed by Allah’s leave” (al-Nisaʾ 4:64); “If you obey him you will be rightly guided” (al-Nur 24:54); and “Obey the Messenger so that you may receive mercy” (al-Nur 24:56). Thus, obedience to him brings guidance and admission to Paradise, while disobedience leads to misguidance and entry into the Fire. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Every one of you will enter Paradise except the one who refuses.” They asked, “O Messenger of Allah, who would refuse?” He replied, “Whoever obeys me will enter Paradise, and whoever disobeys me has refused.” His phrase “has refused” means: has refused to enter Paradise. He also said: “No Jew or Christian hears of me and then does not believe in what I have brought…”
