Sharh Thalathat al-UsulSalih Al-Fawzan

and whoever claims knowledge of any part of the unseen ⦗81⦘.

…and they assure their followers that they will take care of their needs. Whoever therefore summons people to worship himself, whether during his lifetime or after his death, is one of the leading taghut (false deities). The same applies to anyone who invites people to worship another taghut—namely, the propagators of shirk (polytheism). These are taghut: they dress up shirk for the masses, give it another name, and claim, “This is merely tawassul (seeking mediation)” or “This is intercession.” They are many. Such individuals are taghut because they call to shirk; they urge the worship of someone besides Allah, disguise it with new labels, and embellish it with specious arguments and eloquent speech. These are the taghut, the promoters of shirk. Anyone who is worshipped instead of Allah and is pleased with it, or who calls people to worship himself, or who calls them to worship anyone other than Allah, is a taghut—indeed, one of the chief taghut. We ask Allah for safety. [81] Fourth: whoever claims any knowledge of the unseen. This includes magicians, astrologers, fortune-tellers, geomancers, and all who pretend to know the unseen, telling people: “Such-and-such will happen to you; you will be happy or you will suffer; you will succeed in marriage or you will not.” These people claim knowledge of the unseen, yet the unseen is known only to Allah, as He, the Exalted, says:
