Belief in the Messengers
Allah sent all the messengers as heralds of glad tidings and as warners. The evidence is His—exalted be He—statement: “messengers bringing good news and warning so that people may have no plea against Allah after the messengers. Allah is Mighty, Wise.” (al-Nisāʾ 4:165). ⦗74⦘
…“Those who disbelieve say, ‘The Hour will never come upon us.’ Say, ‘Yes indeed, by my Lord, it will surely come upon you—the Knower of the unseen, from whom not so much as the weight of a speck in the heavens or on the earth escapes, nor anything smaller than that or greater, but it is recorded in a clear Book—so that He may recompense those who believe and do righteous deeds; such people shall have forgiveness and a generous provision’” (Saba 34:3–4). Thus Allah commanded His Prophet to swear by Him concerning both the resurrection and the coming of the Hour.
The third verse is the one before us in Surah al-Taghabun: “Those who disbelieve claim that they will never be resurrected. Say, ‘Yes indeed, by my Lord, you will surely be resurrected; then you will surely be informed of what you used to do, and that is easy for Allah’” (Taghabun 64:7). The purpose of the resurrection is to requite people for their deeds; the phrase “you will surely be informed” means you will be told of your actions and rewarded—or punished—accordingly.
(74) Belief in the messengers is one of the six pillars of faith; the Prophet ﷺ said: “Faith is to believe in Allah, His angels, His books, and His messengers.”
