…once more.” (Ta Ha 55) [70] This is an unquestionable truth, and whoever denies it becomes a disbeliever in Allah. Faith in the resurrection forms part of the six pillars of iman (faith) mentioned by the Prophet ﷺ: “That you believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and that you believe in qadar (the divine decree), its good and its evil.” Accordingly, whoever rejects the resurrection and the Last Day is a disbeliever in Allah—even if he professes that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and even if he performs the prayer, fasts, makes the pilgrimage, pays the zakah, and carries out other acts of obedience. Denying or even doubting the resurrection constitutes disbelief in Allah. Proofs for the resurrection are numerous. Among them is His statement: “From it We created you” (Ta Ha 55), meaning the earth from which Adam—the father of humankind—was fashioned; “and into it We shall return you,” that is, after death, in the graves; “and from it We shall bring you forth once more,” which is the resurrection itself. Thus this verse brings together the beginning of creation and its re-creation: “From it We created you, into it We shall return you, and from it We shall bring you forth once more.” [71] “And Allah has caused you to grow from the earth”—when He created Adam from it—“then He will return you to it,” that is, through death and burial.
