Sharh Thalathat al-UsulSalih Al-Fawzan

Allah also says, “and I have completed My favor upon you and have approved Islam for you as your religion” (al-Māʾidah 5:3). This was the last revelation sent down to the Prophet ﷺ, a testimony from the Lord of all worlds that the religion is perfect, comprehensive, and suitable for every time and place.

This divine address is directed to the entire Muslim community, from its first generation to its last; it is not confined to the early Muslims but remains in force for the whole ummah until the Hour is established.

As for the consensus of the scholars, the ummah unanimously agrees that the Prophet ﷺ passed away. No one disputed this except a few deluded individuals who claim that the Messenger did not die and who deny the very possibility of his death. Such assertions are utterly baseless and plainly contradicted by sense and reality. The Prophet ﷺ died in the presence of his Companions; they washed his body, shrouded him, offered the funeral prayer over him, and buried him. Are these rites ever performed for someone who is alive? He ﷺ was treated exactly as every deceased person is: washed, shrouded, prayed over, and finally laid to rest in his grave.

This is Allah’s established way with His creation. Where, then, are the messengers who came before him? The same pattern applied to them—they all died—and he, being one of them, likewise passed away. This is the unanimous position of Ahl al-Sunnah wa-l-Jamāʿah. None disagree except those confused souls who cling to the Messenger ﷺ, seek his aid instead of Allah, and insist that he is still alive.
