then let him obey Him. A vow is a form of worship that may be offered only to Allah; whoever makes a vow to a grave, an idol, or anything else has committed shirk (polytheism) against Allah. Such a vow is one of disobedience and shirk. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Whoever vows to disobey Allah, let him not disobey Him.”
