Sharh Thalathat al-UsulSalih Al-Fawzan

He said: “Hope and its evidence:

The proof of hope is the Almighty’s statement: ‘Whoever hopes to meet his Lord, let him do righteous deeds and associate no one with his Lord in worship.’ (al-Kahf 18:110) ⦗16⦘”

…the Most High said: “So do not fear them; rather, fear Me, if you are believers” (Al Imran 3:175). This verse occurs in Surah Al Imran during the account of the Prophet’s confrontation with the idolaters on the day of Uhud. When the polytheists threatened, saying, “We shall return and wipe them out,” Allah—glorified be He—declared: “That is only Satan who scares his partisans; so do not fear them, but fear Me, if you are believers” (Al Imran 3:175). In other words, this intimidation comes from Satan: he frightens you through his allies, or he terrifies those who submit to him and fear him, thereby gaining power over them. (16) The phrase Whoever hopes refers to anyone who longs for Allah’s reward and to behold Him directly on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever desires to see Allah with his own eyes on that Day must perform righteous deeds—he must adopt the means that qualify him for the desired outcome: entry into Paradise, deliverance from the Fire, and the vision of Allah’s Face. These blessings are inseparable, for whoever enters Paradise will indeed see Allah, the Mighty and Majestic. Hence the verse states: “So whoever hopes to meet his Lord, let him work righteous deeds.”
