“Your Lord” means: your Creator and the One who nurtures you with His blessings.
“Allah”—none but Him.
He then set forth the proof of this, saying: “the One who created the heavens and the earth” [al-Aʿrāf: 54]. This is the decisive evidence for Allah’s lordship: He created the heavens and the earth. No one else brought any part of them into existence, nor did anyone assist Him in doing so. Rather, He alone fashioned them: “He created the heavens and the earth.” Has any polytheist or atheist ever contested this and declared, “Allah did not create the heavens and the earth; so-and-so created them,” or, “I created them,” or, “such-and-such an idol created them”? Has anyone, from ancient times to the present, ever made such a claim—while this verse is recited night and day? No one has opposed it, and no one will ever be able to oppose it.
“In six days”: these vast, majestic creations Allah brought into being in six days, though He is fully capable of creating them in an instant. Yet He chose six days for a wisdom known only to Him. The first of those days was Sunday and the last was Friday; on Friday the creation was completed. For this reason, Friday became the greatest day of the week—its chief and its weekly festival, the very best of days.
