What, I wonder, will the author and his predecessors say when faced with these clear, unequivocal texts from Ahl al-Sunnah wa-l-Jamāʿah concerning the division of Allah’s oneness? Will he say of these imams, “They followed Ibn Taymiyyah in his false doctrine”?! An ignorant man like him said something similar when presented with a passage from Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah—may Allah have mercy on him—declaring, “Ibn Taymiyyah is a Wahhabi”!! Yet Ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb was not born until centuries after him. Allah is the One whose help is sought.
- The author wrote on p. 3:
“Know, then, that dividing Allah’s oneness into these three categories is an unsound division put forward by some later authors. Among them is Ibn Abī al-ʿIzz, the commentator on al-Tahāwī’s Creed, who is wrongly attributed to the Hanafī school. While commenting on this text concerning Allah’s oneness, he refuted the author of the original book, Imam Abū Jaʿfar al-Tahāwī al-Hanafī—may Allah Most High have mercy on him. Ibn Abī al-ʿIzz thus dismissed some of the statements of Abū Jaʿfar al-Tahāwī—may Allah have mercy on him—as unsound. He assumed the guise of calling to the way of the righteous predecessors, yet contradicted the unequivocal teachings of the Book, the Sunnah, and scholarly consensus, as well as the creed of Ahl al-Sunnah wa-l-Jamāʿah expressed in the words of Imam Abū Jaʿfar al-Tahāwī …”
He repeated similar remarks on p. 6, p. 12, p. 45, and p. 60. He frequently repeats what he has already said for various purposes, perhaps including padding and inflating the book any way he can.
I say:
First: As for the author’s assertion that dividing Allah’s oneness into three categories is unsound, these are the words of someone who prattles about what he does not understand and speaks of what he does not know. This amounts to speaking about Allah without knowledge concerning the most fundamental principle and greatest pillar—Allah’s oneness. Even junior students of Ahl al-Sunnah wa-l-Jamāʿah, in every time and place, know that this division is sound and know its evidence from the Book and the Sunnah. I have already cited some of this evidence above. The author, in what he has stated,
