For these and other reasons, I considered it my duty to draw attention to this writer’s falsehood and misguidance, to warn against him, to expose some of his obfuscations and deceptions, to lay bare his lies and fabrications, and to refute the specious arguments and falsehoods in his aforementioned book—in support of the truth, in defense of the Sunnah and the scholars of the Muslim community, and to repel falsehood and bring it to nothing.
This is not an exhaustive examination of everything it contains. Were I to address all the injustice, error, transgression, oppression, lies, confusion, obfuscation, deception, and vilification in his book, the discussion would be lengthy. Yet pointing out a little of his misguidance and falsehood will enable anyone with even the slightest understanding and knowledge to recognize much more; a discerning person needs only a hint. Had this writer remained silent, refrained from writing what he wrote, and occupied himself with acquiring religious knowledge from its proper sources—the Quran and the Sunnah—it would have been better and more upright for him, and he would have spared others the trouble. Instead, he has become like a creature digging for its own death with its hoof:
He was like the wretched goat that set its hoof
To uncovering a knife beneath inherited property.
We therefore ask Allah to guide him and those Muslims who have gone astray, to bring them graciously back to the truth, and, by His grace and generosity, to protect us from desires that lead to transgression and trials that bring ruin.
Now it is time to turn to the matter at hand.
