953 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; al-Hasan ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAziz narrated to us; he said: I heard ʿAmr ibn Abi Salamah transmit from Saʿid ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAziz, who said:
“We know of no one who broke an oath to walk to Mecca and yet later fulfilled it, except Aththāmah, the mother of Bilal ibn Abi al-Dardaʾ. She did break her vow, but she still walked all the way to Mecca and spent five hundred dinars in doing so.”
