933 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Surayj narrated to us; Muhammad ibn al-Fudayl ibn Ghazwan narrated to us, from his father, who said: Kuraz’s daughter once visited him and found beside him a prayer mat he had stuffed with straw and covered with a cloak because of the long hours he spent standing in prayer. He would complete a full recitation of the Quran three times every twenty-four hours, and he kept a staff in the prayer niche to lean on whenever drowsiness overcame him. Muhammad ibn al-Fudayl—either from Kuraz himself or from his father—also said: Whenever Kuraz went out, he would command what is right, and the people would beat him until he lost consciousness.
