927 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to us; Sufyan ibn ʿUyaynah narrated to us, from Abu Hamzah al-Thumali, from ʿAli ibn al-Husayn: he used to carry a sack containing bread and would say, “Charity given in the night extinguishes the Lord’s anger—may He be exalted.”
٩٢٧ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ الثُّمَالِيِّ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَحْمِلُ الْجِرَابَ فِيهِ الْخُبْزُ، وَيَقُولُ: إِنَّ صَدَقَةَ اللَّيْلِ تُطْفِئُ غَضَبَ الرَّبِّ – Exalté soit-Il – "
