907 – ʿAbd Allah related to us; my father told me; ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us; Abū ʿAwānah transmitted, from Hilāl al-Wazzān, from ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿUkaym, who said:

I heard ʿAbd Allah ibn Masʿūd, in this very mosque, begin with the right side before addressing us and say, “By Allah, there is not one of you but that his Lord will confer with him alone, just as one of you speaks alone with the full moon on the night it reaches its zenith. He will say, ‘Son of Adam, what deceived you, O son of Adam? What reply did you give the messengers, O son of Adam? What did you do with the knowledge you possessed?’”
