Al-ZuhdAhmad Ibn Hanbal

881 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to us; Wakiʿ narrated to us; Ismaʿil ibn Abi Khalid narrated to us, from ʿImran ibn Abi al-Jaʿd—and likewise from Misʿar—on the authority of Maʿn ibn ʿAbd al-Rahman, who said:

ʿAbd Allah remarked, “People—all of them—speak well. Whoever lets his deeds agree with his words has obtained his share, while whoever allows his deeds to contradict his words is only reproaching himself.”
