ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Yahya ibn Adam narrated to us; Yazid ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAziz narrated to us, from al-Aʿmash, who said: I heard them relate that Hudhayfah said to Salman, “Abu ʿAbd Allah, why do you not build yourself a house?” Salman disliked the suggestion. Hudhayfah then added, “Wait a moment while I explain. I would build you a house such that when you lie down in it, your head would be at one wall and your feet at the opposite wall, and when you stand up your head would touch the ceiling.” Salman replied, “It is as though you have spoken what is in my own heart.”
