Al-ZuhdAhmad Ibn Hanbal

818 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; ʿAmr ibn Ayyub narrated to us; Jaʿfar informed us, from Maymun, who said:

Hudhayfah and Salman once lodged with a Nabataean woman. When the time for prayer arrived, they said, “Here is a clean spot where we can pray.” She replied, “First, purify your hearts.” One of them then said to the other, “Take that—a word of wisdom from the heart of an unbeliever.”
