- ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to us; Wahb narrated to us; his father narrated to us. He said: I heard Humayd ibn Hilal relate from Mutarrif, who said:
ʿImran ibn Husayn—may Allah have mercy on him—said, “I was made aware that greetings of salam were being extended to me, but when I underwent cauterization the greetings ceased.”
Mutarrif continues: “So I asked him, ‘Did the salam reach you from the direction of your head or from the direction of your feet?’ He answered, ‘From my head.’ I said, ‘Then I do not expect you will die before it returns.’
Not long afterwards he told me, ‘I have been informed that the salam has come back to me,’ and he did not remain alive much longer before he passed away.”
