- ʿAbd Allah narrated to us—my father narrated to me; Yazīd narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr said: I heard ʿIrāk ibn Mālik relate that Abū Dharr, may Allah have mercy on him, declared:
“I shall be the one among you seated closest to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, on the Day of Resurrection. The reason is that I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: ‘The nearest of you to me in seating on the Day of Resurrection is the one who leaves this world in the same state in which I left it. By Allah, there is none of you who has not fastened onto some part of it—except me.’”
٧٩٥ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عِرَاكَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، يَقُولُ: قَالَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ (رحمه الله): إِنِّي لَأَقْرَبُكُمْ مَجْلِسًا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ، وَذَلِكَ أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: «إِنَّ أَقْرَبَكُمْ مِنِّي مَجْلِسًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مَنْ خَرَجَ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا كَهَيْئَةِ مَا تَرَكْتُهُ فِيهَا، وَأَنَّهُ وَاللَّهِ مَا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ إِلَّا وَقَدْ تَشَبَّثَ مِنْهَا بِشَيْءٍ غَيْرِي»
