- ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me. Hashim and Abu al-Mundhir likewise narrated, saying: Jarir related to us from Rashid ibn Saʿd that Abu al-Dardaʾ used to say, “No gift my brother can present to me is dearer than salam (the greeting of peace), and no report concerning him reaches me that I find more remarkable than the news of his death.”
