ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Sayyār narrated to us; Jaʿfar narrated to us; Yūnus narrated to us, from al-Ḥasan, who said:

Abu al-Dardāʾ said, “Were it not for three things, I would have preferred to be in the bowels of the earth rather than walking upon its surface: brothers who visit me, choosing the finest words as one selects the choicest dates; the opportunity to press my face to the ground in prostration to Allah; or a morning or evening expedition in the path of Allah.”
