Al-ZuhdAhmad Ibn Hanbal
  1. ʿAbd Allah narrated to us—he said: I recited this report to my father; Abu al-ʿAlaʾ al-Ḥusayn ibn Sawwār narrated to us; al-Layth narrated to us, from Muʿāwiyah ibn Ṣāliḥ, from Abū al-Zāhiriyyah, from Jubayr ibn Nufayr, from ʿAwf ibn Mālik, who said:

I saw in a dream a leather pavilion set in the midst of a verdant meadow, and around the pavilion were sheep lying peacefully, ruminating and dropping dung the size of ʿajwa dates. I asked, “To whom does this pavilion belong?” It was said, “To ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAwf.” We waited until he emerged, and he said,

“O ʿAwf, this is what Allah has granted us through the Qurʾān. Had you looked out over this structure, you would have seen what no eye has ever seen, what no ear has ever heard, and what has never occurred to any heart. Allah has prepared it for Abū al-Dardāʾ, for he used to repel the world with both his palms and his very chest.”
