- ʿAbd Allah reported to us; Sufyan ibn Wakiʿ related to me; and Abu Ghassan related to us, from Abu Dawud al-Makfuf, from ʿAbd Allah ibn Sharik, from Habba, from ʿAli—may Allah honor his countenance—that some fālūdhaj (a sweet pudding) was brought and set before him. He said, “You are sweet-smelling, attractive in color, and delicious in taste; nevertheless, I would rather not train my soul to desire something it has not been accustomed to.”
