Al-ZuhdAhmad Ibn Hanbal
  1. ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Abu Maʿmar related to me; Hushaym narrated to us; Ismaʿil ibn Salim informed us, from ʿAmmar al-Hadrami, from Zadhan Abu ʿUmar, who reported that a man told him the following:

ʿAli—may Allah be pleased with him—once asked a man at al-Rahbah about a hadith, but the man lied to him. ʿAli said, “You have lied to me.” The man replied, “I have not lied to you.” ʿAli then declared, “I will invoke Allah against you: if you have lied to me, may Allah take away your sight.” He prayed accordingly, and the man lost his eyesight.
