- ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Wakiʿ narrated to us; Misʿar narrated to us, from Abū Baḥr, from one of their elders, who said: “I saw ʿAlī—may Allah honor his countenance—wearing a coarse waist-cloth. He remarked, ‘I bought it for five dirhams; if anyone will give me even one dirham’s profit, I will sell it to him.’ I also noticed some dirhams tied up with him, and he said, ‘These are what is left of our travel expenses from Yanbuʿ.’”
٦٩٤ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا مِسْعَرٌ، عَنْ أَبِي بَحْرٍ، عَنْ شَيْخٍ، لَهُمْ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ عَلَى عَلِيٍّ (عليه السلام) إِزَارًا غَلِيظًا قَالَ: «اشْتَرَيْتُهُ بِخَمْسَةِ دَرَاهِمَ فَمَنْ أَرْبَحَنِي دِرْهَمًا بِعْتُهُ» قَالَ: وَرَأَيْتُ مَعَهُ دَرَاهِمَ مَصْرُورَةً، فَقَالَ: «هَذِهِ بَقِيَّةُ نَفَقَتِنَا مِنْ يَنْبُعَ»
