690 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Shayban narrated to me; Muhammad ibn Rashid narrated to us; and Sulayman ibn Musa narrated: “ʿUthman ibn ʿAffan was invited to a group of people who were engaged in something reprehensible. He went out to them, but found that they had already dispersed, though he still witnessed a detestable matter. He praised Allah for having spared him from meeting them and, in gratitude, emancipated a slave.”
