689 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Bakr ibn ʿIsa Abu Bishr al-Rasibi narrated to us; Abu ʿAwanah narrated to us; from ʿAsim al-Ahwal; from Abu ʿUthman: the servant of al-Mughira ibn Shuʿbah got married and sent word to ʿUthman—may Allah be pleased with him—who was then the Commander of the Believers. When ʿUthman arrived he said, “I am, in fact, fasting; yet I wished to answer the invitation and to invoke blessing.”
