- ʿAbd Allah narrated to us—my father told me—Isḥaq ibn Sulayman narrated to us; Abu Jaʿfar narrated to us, from Yunus, from al-Hasan. Fayyad also transmitted it from Jaʿfar ibn Burqan, from al-Hamdani, who said: “I saw ʿUthman sleeping in the mosque, wrapped in a cloak, with no one around him—even though he was the Commander of the Faithful.”
٦٧٤ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أبِي، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، وَقَالَ فَيَّاضٌ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ بُرْقَانَ، عَنِ الْهَمْدَانِيِّ، فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَ: «رَأَيْتُ عُثْمَانَ نَائِمًا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فِي مِلْحَفَةٍ لَيْسَ حَوْلَهُ أَحَدٌ وَهُوَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ»
