- ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father related to me; Muhammad ibn Salamah al-Harrani narrated to us, from Abu ʿAbd Allah, from Furat ibn Sulayman, from Maymun ibn Mihran, who said: The Hamdani told me that he had seen ʿUthman ibn ʿAffan—may Allah have mercy on him—riding a mule, with his servant Naʾil seated behind him, at the time when he was the caliph.
٦٧٢ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أبِي، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ فُرَاتِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ مَيْمُونِ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي الْهَمْدَانِيُّ أَنَّهُ رَأَى عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ رَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ عَلَى بَغْلَةٍ وَخَلْفَهُ عَلَيْهَا غُلَامُهُ نَائِلٌ وَهُوَ خَلِيفَةٌ "
