- ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; Abu ʿĀmir al-ʿAqadī told me; Ḥammād ibn Salamah related to us, from Yūnus, from al-Ḥasan, that the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—said: “By Him in Whose hand is my soul, a man from my community—who is not of my Household—will intercede, and through his intercession so many people will be brought out of the Fire that they will outnumber the tribes of Rabīʿah and Muḍar.” Al-Ḥasan added: They used to think that this man would be ʿUthmān ibn ʿAffān, may Allah have mercy on him, or Uways al-Qaranī.
٦٧١ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَامِرٍ الْعَقَدِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ: «وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَيَخْرُجُ مِنَ النَّارِ بِشَفَاعَةِ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أُمَّتِي مَا هُوَ مِنْ بَيْتِي أَكْثَرُ مِنْ رَبِيعَةَ وَمُضَرَ» ، قَالَ الْحَسَنُ: كَانُوا يَرَوْنَهُ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ رَحِمَهُ ⦗١٠٥⦘ اللَّهُ أَوْ أُوَيْسًا الْقَرَنِيَّ
