Al-ZuhdAhmad Ibn Hanbal
  1. ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; my father related it to me; ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us; Ḥammād b. Salamah, from Rajāʾ Abū al-Miqdām, from Ḥumayd b. Nuʿaym, reported that ʿUmar and ʿUthmān—may Allah be pleased with them—were invited to a meal. When they came out, ʿUthmān said to ʿUmar, “We have just eaten food that I wish we had not eaten.” ʿUmar asked, “Why?” He replied, “I fear that the host may have prepared it as a miyāhāh (an ostentatious show-dish).” Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān said: This Rajāʾ is Rajāʾ b. Abī Salamah.
