Al-ZuhdAhmad Ibn Hanbal
  1. ʿAbdullāh narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Wakiʿ narrated to us, from Saʿīd ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz, from Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAbd Allāh—whom I heard personally—from Ibn Ghanm, from ʿUmar who said:

“Woe to the judges of the earth when they face the Judge of the heavens on the day they meet Him—except for the one who makes justice his compass, issues rulings in accordance with the truth, and refuses to judge by whim, kinship, desire, or fear, keeping the Book of Allah as the mirror before his eyes.”
