- ʿAbdullāh narrated to us; Dāwūd ibn ʿAmr al-Dabbī related to us; Muḥammad ibn Muslim al-Ṭāʾifī transmitted to us, from ʿAmr ibn Dīnār, who said: I heard Abān ibn ʿUthmān say that ʿUthmān ibn ʿAffān said: “I entered upon ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb after he had been stabbed and found him lying in the dust. I moved to lift him up, but he said, ‘Leave me! Woe to me and woe to my mother if I am not forgiven—woe to me and woe to my mother if I am not forgiven.’”
