- ʿAbdullāh narrated to us; my father related to me; Bahz narrated to us; Jaʿfar ibn Sulaymān narrated to us; Mālik ibn Dīnār narrated to us; al-Ḥasan reported:
ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb—may Allah have mercy on him—addressed the people while he was Caliph, wearing a simple waist-wrapper (izār) that bore twelve patches.
٦٥٨ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أبِي، حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ قَالَ: «خَطَبَ النَّاسَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ (رحمه الله) وَهُوَ خَلِيفَةٌ وَعَلَيْهِ إِزَارٌ فِيهِ ثِنْتَا عَشْرَةَ رُقْعَةً»
