Report 67: ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Abū Muʿāwiyah narrated to us; al-Aʿmash, from Sālim ibn Abī al-Jaʿd, who said:
The Messenger of Allah — may Allah bless him and grant him peace — said:
“Among the people of my community is a man who, were he to come to one of your doors and ask for a dinar, you would refuse him; if he asked for a dirham, you would refuse him; even if he asked for a single fals, you would refuse him. Yet if he were to ask Allah for Paradise, He would grant it to him; and if he asked Allah for a share of this world, He would not grant it to him — and He withholds it only because, in His sight, the world is worthless. He is a man dressed in two threadbare garments, unnoticed by people; but if he were to swear an oath by Allah, Allah would surely fulfill it.”
