- ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Abu Saʿid narrated to us; Zāʾidah narrated to us; al-Aʿmash narrated, from Zayd ibn Wahb, from Hudhayfah, who said:
I approached and found the people with large serving bowls set before them. ʿUmar—may Allah be pleased with him—called me over, so I went to him. He then asked for coarse bread and oil to be brought. I said to him, “You kept me from eating bread and meat, and now you invite me to this?” He replied, “I invited you to a meal; as for this, it is the food of the Muslims.”
