- ʿAbd Allah related to us; my father related to me; Sufyan ibn ʿUyaynah related to us; Jaʿfar ibn Burqan related to us, from Thabit ibn al-Hajjaj, who said: ʿUmar—may Allah have mercy on him—said, “Call yourselves to account before you are called to account, and weigh your deeds before they are weighed for you. For what will make tomorrow’s reckoning easier is that you take stock of yourselves today. Prepare for the Great Presentation on the Day you shall be brought forth, when none of your secrets will remain hidden.”
