- ʿAbd Allah related to us; my father related to me; Sufyan related to us, from Ibn Abi Khuld, who said: ʿUmar—may Allah have mercy on him—said, “Be vessels of the Book, fountains of knowledge; ask Allah for your provision day by day, and do not be distressed if He does not grant you abundance.”
٦٣٢ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أبِي، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي خُلْدٍ قَالَ: قَالَ عُمَرُ (رحمه الله): «كُونُوا أَوْعِيَةَ الْكِتَابِ، وَيَنَابِيعَ الْعِلْمِ، وَسَلُوا اللَّهَ رِزْقَ يَوْمٍ بِيَوْمٍ، وَلَا يَضُرُّكُمْ أَنْ لَا يُكْثِرَ لَكُمْ»
