Al-ZuhdAhmad Ibn Hanbal
  1. ʿAbd Allah related to us; my father related to us; Sayyār related to us; Jaʿfar related to us; Hishām narrated from al-Ḥasan that ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb—may Allah have mercy on him—would come upon a Qur’anic verse during his regular portion, and it would choke him with emotion so that he remained in his house for several days. People would visit him, thinking he was ill.
