Abd Allah related to us; my father related to me; Wakiʿ—and ʿAbd al-Rahman concurred—related to us, saying: Sufyan narrated from al-Aʿmash, from Malik ibn al-Harith, who reported that ʿUmar—may Allah be pleased with him—said, “Deliberation is commendable in every matter, except when the affair pertains to the Hereafter.”
