ʿAbd Allah related to us; my father related to me; Abū Qaṭan related to us; Shuʿbah transmitted from Abū Maslamah, from Abū Naḍrah, who said: ʿUmar—may Allah be pleased with him—said to Abū Mūsā al-Ashʿarī, “Stir our hearts so that we yearn for our Lord.” Abū Mūsā thereupon began to recite (the Quran). When some people called out, “The prayer!” ʿUmar replied, “Are we not already engaged in the prayer?”
